🌍 Why I’m So Passionate About World Schooling
For the freedom, for me it's really simple, I am so passionate about World Schooling because off the freedom it gives my family. Both in what we can do and when we can do it, we’ve created the flexibility to travel often and the financial freedom to support it. There is nothing I’m more passionate about than travel and world schooling. I left the UK at the age 23 with my hard-earned savings and an overweight backpack to embark on a five-month solo trip across Asia. That journey changed everything. Watching the sunset on Sairee Beach in Koh Tao, Thailand, I had a moment of absolute clarity: I could never return to a “normal” life. And I didn’t. I never lived in the UK again.
Since then and for 15 years, I’ve lived, worked, and traveled all over the world—often on a backpacker’s budget, not always because I had to, but because I loved the simplicity and freedom it brought. I met my now-husband in a hostel in Cambodia, taught English across Asia and Europe as a TEFL teacher, opened an online English school, bought and renovated an apartment in Sicily which I ran as an Airbnb for six years, and gave birth to two beautiful and adventurous children in Italy.
Eventually, though, we found ourselves stuck. Life became routine—work, bills, no time, no adventure. We realized we were living the life that that we had always tried to avoid. So we made what some might say was a bold decision, but for us it felt easy because it was right. We sold everything including our car and all our furniture and moved back to Asia to create a better quality of life for our family. It was, without question, the best decision we’ve ever made.
Today, we live debt-free and adventure-rich. Our days are filled with culture, exploration, and connection—not only as individuals, but as a thriving family unit.
World schooling looks different for every family, and that’s the beauty of it. Some travel full-time, others stay longer in one place. But the core remains the same: your children grow up learning from the world around them—engaging with different cultures, forming friendships with people of all ages and backgrounds, and developing confidence, curiosity, and a global mindset. My children are more worldly, adaptable, and socially confident than I ever imagined possible. They’ve formed lasting friendships, learned through hands-on experiences, and are growing up in a community of like-minded families who believe in living a life less ordinary.
As parents, we no longer live in survival mode. We’re thriving. And best of all? We get to travel the world together and make memories that will last a lifetime. When our kids are older, they won’t remember the plastic toys—they’ll remember beach camping under the stars, riding a tuk tuk through Bangkok, hiking to waterfalls in Northern Thailand, and dancing in the streets during a local festival.
If there’s one thing I am absolutely certain, it’s this: life is too short to stay stuck, unhappy, living groundhog day. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. But you have to be the one to make the change.
Let me help you do it—to create a life of freedom, family memories, adventure, to the kind of life that to many seems like a dream.
